Job openings in the Simmerling lab
Several
postdoctoral positions are currently available in the Simmerling lab.
Research projects include the study of DNA damage recognition, protein
folding, and development and validation of simulation methods and force
fields for biomolecules.

Required Qualifications:
PhD in Chemistry or closely related field. Knowledge of computational
structural biology, computer software Amber or other biomolecular
simulation program, Linux operating system. Familiar with the
biomolecular simulation software and excellent knowledge of
structural biology and biophysics.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in using molecular dynamics simulations of biomolecular
systems, particularly using the Amber simulation package. Use of
methods for enhanced conformational sampling in complex systems in the
condensed phase. Force field parameter development. Computer
programming in FORTRAN and/or C. Experience with systems administration
for UNIX operating systems.
Brief Description of Duties:
- Development and application of molecular simulation tools to study biological problems.
- Development and validation of new simulation methods and force field parameters for biomolecular systems.
- Prepare and submit manuscripts for publication in scientific journals.
- Oversee graduate and undergraduate students involved in the projects.
Special Notes:
This is a full time position. The Research Foundation of SUNY is a
private educational corporation. Employment is subject to the Research
Foundation policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines and the
availability of funding. This is a FLSA exempt level position, that is,
not eligible for overtime monies. Internal and external search to occur
simultaneously.
The selected candidate must successfully clear a background investigation.
